Can I sell a sale bike?

  • Effective from 10/09/2024, you will be granted discretionary powers to apply a common-sense approach when redeeming Cyclescheme Certificates against sale bikes. This is contrary to sub-clauses 6.5.2 of the Retail Partner Agreement:
    • not discriminate against those customers on availability or price, of sale or reduced-price cycle equipment;
  • This means that, if managed and communicated upfront to the customer, you can decline the redemption of a Certificate against a sale bike where the cost of Cyclescheme commission will create a loss of gross profit for your store on that single transaction.
  • This temporary measure will be reviewed on an on-going basis. We reserve the right to enforce in full the Terms and Conditions set out in your contract, issued in December 2023.
  • It’s important to note:
    • No fees and/or surcharges related to commission should be charged to a Cyclescheme participant under any circumstance.
    • There cannot be a blanket ‘no sale’ approach to sale bikes obtained via the Cycle to Work scheme.
    • At Cyclescheme, our goal remains to achieve a positive outcome for both you and our scheme participants. To this end, we will monitor both participant’s shopping experience and feedback from our retailer network in relation to this temporary measure.
    • If you choose to sell a bike at a loss or close to a loss that is your decision.
    • All other Terms and Conditions in your Cyclescheme contract in December 2023 remain in place.
